lyrics

We all come home and go into the bright room
Snakeskins coil into our beds
Breathing in the mercury of our overexposure
We dream of white marble heads
Bodies pale and sterile as the linens
Lips as dry and tender as the air
The colored lights pulse in every shadow
And with the stoic eyes of animals
We blink into the glare
And I dream without losing awareness of my body
Not knowing if it has the strength to take me through December
And all of our dead parents can’t remind us who we are
We would all forget our names if we were trying to remember
And I call down beyond my broken borders
To all my sons and daughters weeping tears of glue
And you know now I always was your soldier
I always meant to hold you
Now there’s nothing here to wake the fear up
Close your eyes and take your syrup
Let the quiet hold you where you are
We all come home and go into the bright room
With a sour metallic tingle in our bones
And our love for one another
Is a warm and quiet sorrow
That we keep inside the artifacts that decorate our home
And I dream without losing the noise of the disease
Stumbling over shards of glass balloons that I have broken
And all of our dead parents cannot hold us in their arms
And everything we’ve lost will fall apart but not break open
I recall rain
Falling on the surface of the pond
And the place in the clouds where the sun broke like a stain
And you laughed as you came running
I remember this
I remember this
I remember this
